AN ACT
Designating the bridge, identified as Bridge Key 3937, carrying
Pennsylvania Route 26 over Bloody Run in Everett Borough,
Bedford County, as the PFC James E. Williams Memorial Bridge.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. The PFC James E. Williams Memorial Bridge.
(a) Findings.--The General Assembly finds and declares as
follows:
(1) PFC Jesse JAMES E. Williams, a native of Bedford
County, gave his life in service to his country during the
Korean War.
(2) PFC Williams served as a Light Weapons Infantryman
with the 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division.
(3) PFC Williams was captured and held by the Chinese as
a prisoner of war for 27 months.
(4) On May 18, 1951, PFC Williams died while still in

captivity.
(5) PFC Williams was awarded the Purple Heart for his
valiant service.
(b) Designation.--The bridge, identified as Bridge Key 3937,
carrying Pennsylvania Route 26 over Bloody Run in Everett
Borough, Bedford County, is designated as the PFC James E.
Williams Memorial Bridge.
(c) Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and
maintain appropriate signs displaying the name of the bridge to
traffic in both directions on the bridge.
Section 2. Effective date.
This act shall take effect in 60 days.
