AN ACT
Amending Titles 18 (Crimes and Offenses) and 75 (Vehicles) of
the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, in firearms and other
dangerous articles, further providing for licenses; and, in
licensing of drivers, further providing for issuance and
content of driver's license and providing for revocation of
license following acquisition, expiration or revocation of
license to carry firearms.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Section 6109 of Title 18 of the Pennsylvania
Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding a subsection to read:
§ 6109. Licenses.

(l.1) Notification for issuance, expiration or revocation of
license.--If a person is issued a license to carry a firearm or
if a person's license to carry a firearm expires or is revoked,
the sheriff in the county in which the person resides or the
chief of police of a city of the first class for persons who
reside in a city of the first class shall notify the

Pennsylvania Department of Transportation within seven days of
the issuance, expiration or revocation on a form developed by
the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for the purposes
of revoking the person's current driver's license.

Section 2. Section 1510(a) of Title 75 is amended to read:
§ 1510. Issuance and content of driver's license.
(a) General rule.--The department shall, upon payment of the
required fee, issue to every qualified applicant a driver's
license indicating the type or general class of vehicles the
licensee is authorized to drive and any endorsements or
restrictions, which license, except as provided in subsection
(j), shall contain a distinguishing number assigned by the
department to the licensee, the actual name, date of birth,
residence address, a color photograph or photographic facsimile
of the licensee, a section indicating whether the person
possesses a valid license to carry a firearm under 18 Pa.C.S. §
6109 (relating to licenses) and such other information as may be
required by the department, and either a facsimile of the
signature of the licensee or a space upon which the licensee
shall write his usual signature with pen and ink. Program
participants in the Address Confidentiality Program under 23
Pa.C.S. Ch. 67 (relating to domestic and sexual violence victim
address confidentiality) may use a substitute address designated
by the Office of Victim Advocate as their address. Personal
medical data and other information for use in an emergency may
be included as a part of the license. Information other than
that required to identify the licensee, the distinguishing
number and the class of license issued may be included in
microdata form. Except as provided in subsection (f), an

applicant shall include his Social Security number on his
license application, but the Social Security number shall not be
included on the license. No driver's license shall be valid
until it has been signed by the licensee.

Section 3. Title 75 is amended by adding a section to read:
§ 1557. Revocation of license following acquisition, expiration
or revocation of a license to carry firearms.
(a) General rule.--The department shall, within 48 hours of
receiving a form informing the department of a person's
acquisition, expiration or revocation of a license to carry
firearms, revoke the person's driver's license if the driver's
license no longer provides accurate information regarding
whether the person possesses a valid license to carry a firearm
under 18 Pa.C.S. § 6109 (relating to licenses).
(b) Revocation.--
(1) Upon the revocation of a person's driver's license
under subsection (a), the department shall notify the person
in writing at the address of record to surrender the person's
driver's license to the department. Driver's licenses that
are surrendered to the department under subsection (a) may be
destroyed.
(2) The department shall include with the written notice
of revocation under this section a temporary driver's license
containing accurate information regarding whether the person
possesses a valid license to carry a firearm under 18 Pa.C.S.
§ 6109 which shall be valid for no longer than one month.
(3) Upon receipt of a surrendered driver's license under
this section, the department shall send the person a new
driver's license containing accurate information regarding

whether the person possesses a valid license to carry a
firearm under 18 Pa.C.S. § 6109 to the person's address of
record.
Section 4. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
