AN ACT
Amending Title 3 (Agriculture) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
Statutes, in food protection, providing for labeling of food.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Title 3 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes
is amended by adding a section to read:
ยง 5728.1. Labeling of food.
(a) General rule.--All food subject to the provisions of
this subchapter when offered for retail sale in this
Commonwealth shall display on the principle display panel of the
label the term "Use By" followed by an indication of the month,
day and year in which the food must be used for human
consumption.
(b) Optional label.--In addition to the requirements of
subsection (a), food offered for retail sale in this
Commonwealth may display on the principle display panel of the
label the term "Best If Used By" followed by an indication of
