AN ACT
Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
Statutes, in fees, further providing for certified copies of
records; and, in miscellaneous provisions, further providing
for reports by police.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Sections 1956(b) and 3751(b)(1) of Title 75 of
the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes are amended to read:
SECTION 1. SECTION 1956(B) OF TITLE 75 OF THE PENNSYLVANIA
CONSOLIDATED STATUTES IS AMENDED TO READ:
§ 1956. Certified copies of records.

(b) State Police reports.--[The]
(1) Except as provided under paragraph (2), the fee for
a certified Pennsylvania State Police record of investigation
of a vehicle accident which the Pennsylvania State Police are
authorized by this title to furnish to the public shall be
$22 for each copy of the Pennsylvania State Police full

report of investigation.
(2) The fee under paragraph (1) shall not be charged to
a v olunteer fire company or a volunteer ambulance company.
(2) THE PENNSYLVANIA STATE POLICE SHALL ESTABLISH A
PROCESS BY WHICH A VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY OR A VOLUNTEER
AMBULANCE COMPANY MAY OBTAIN THE NECESSARY INFORMATION OR
DOCUMENTATION FOR INSURANCE PURPOSES ONLY AT NO COST TO THE
VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY OR VOLUNTEER AMBULANCE COMPANY.
SECTION 1.1. SECTION 3751(B)(1) OF THE ACT IS AMENDED AND
THE SUBSECTION IS AMENDED BY ADDING A PARAGRAPH TO READ:
§ 3751. Reports by police.

(b) Furnishing copies of report.--
(1) Police departments shall, upon request, furnish a
certified copy of the full report of the police investigation
of any vehicle accident to any [person involved in the
accident, his attorney or insurer, and to the Federal
Government, branches of the military service, Commonwealth
agencies, and to officials of political subdivisions and to
agencies of other states and nations and their political
subdivisions.] of the following:
(i) A person involved in the accident and the
person's attorney or insurer.
(ii) The Federal Government.
(iii) Branches of the military service.
(iv) Commonwealth agencies.
(v) Officials of political subdivisions.
(vi) Agencies of other states and nations and the
political subdivisions of other states and nations.
(vii) Volunteer fire companies FOR INSURANCE

(6) NOTHING UNDER THIS SUBSECTION SHALL BE CONSTRUED TO
PROHIBIT A LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENT FROM WAIVING THE COST FOR
A VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY OR A VOLUNTEER AMBULANCE COMPANY
THAT REQUESTS A COPY OF A REPORT UNDER THIS SUBSECTION FOR
INSURANCE BILLING PURPOSES.
Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
