AN ACT
Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
act relating to the public school system, including certain
provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
laws relating thereto," in school health services, further
providing for health services.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Section 1402(a.1) of the act of March 10, 1949
(P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949, is
amended to read:
Section 1402. Health Services.--* * *
(a.1) Every child of school age shall be provided with
school nurse services: Provided, however, That the number of
pupils under the care of each school nurse shall not exceed [one
thousand five hundred (1,500).] seven hundred fifty (750) by
school year 2024-2025. School districts shall meet compliance
with this requirement according to the following schedule:
(1) For the 2019-2020 school year the number of pupils under

the care of each school nurse shall not exceed one thousand
three hundred seventy-five (1,375).
(2) For the 2020-2021 school year the number of pupils under
the care of each school nurse shall not exceed one thousand two
hundred fifty (1,250).
(3) For the 2021-2022 school year the number of pupils under
the care of each school nurse shall not exceed one thousand two
hundred twenty-five (1,225).
(4) For the 2022-2023 school year the number of pupils under
the care of each school nurse shall not exceed one thousand
(1,000).
(5) For the 2023-2024 school year the number of pupils under
the care of each school nurse shall not exceed eight hundred
twenty-five (825).

Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
