A RESOLUTION
Designating November 16, 2017, as "Parent Involvement Day" in
Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Children are one of Pennsylvania's most vital and
valuable resources; and
WHEREAS, Education is one of the foundations of our society
and it provides the opportunity for children to reach the
highest levels of achievement and to live productive lives; and
WHEREAS, Parents are their children's first and most
influential teachers, and all parents and families have hopes
and goals for their children; and
WHEREAS, Parental involvement in their children's learning
prior to school entrance is essential for school readiness; and
WHEREAS, Parental involvement in children's education is a
determining factor in children's academic success; and
WHEREAS, When parents work with schools supported by
communities in shared partnerships, children become lifelong
learners and community contributors; and
WHEREAS, The Commonwealth recognizes the important role that

parents, guardians, grandparents and other family members play
in children's learning and education; and
WHEREAS, The Commonwealth recognizes the importance of high-
quality early childhood parenting programs and efforts that
engage parents in their children's early learning; and
WHEREAS, The Commonwealth is dedicated to providing the high-
quality education that all children deserve in accessible,
welcoming environments; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate designate November 16, 2017, as
"Parent Involvement Day" in Pennsylvania, and urge all residents
to recognize and celebrate the importance of parents and
families in their children's lives and the vital role they have
in their children's learning and education.
