A RESOLUTION
Designating the week of October 1 through 7, 2017, as "Bullying
Awareness Week" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Bullying is intentional, repeated behavior by one or
more people that can harm others physically and emotionally; and
WHEREAS, Bullying is a type of abuse which can take many
forms and crosses all classes, ages, religions and areas without
discrimination; and
WHEREAS, The Center for Schools and Communities examined
bullying levels in grades 3 through 12 in 25 counties and
reported that bullying is most common during elementary and
middle school years but also occurs in high school; and
WHEREAS, A Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency
Pennsylvania Youth Survey (PAYS) found that 12.1% of
Pennsylvania students reported that other students have used the
Internet or a cell phone to threaten or embarrass them; and
WHEREAS, The PAYS survey found that 15% of 10th graders
report being sexually harassed online; and
