A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the week of May 6 through 14, 2017, as "National
Women Build Week" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Habitat for Humanity's "National Women Build Week,"
celebrated this year May 6 through 14, 2017, is a week-long
event created by Habitat for Humanity's Women Build program; and
WHEREAS, This program invites women to devote at least one
day to help families build strength, stability and independence
through housing; and
WHEREAS, The week is meant to spotlight the home ownership
challenges faced by women; and
WHEREAS, The week-long celebration is held during the week
leading up to Mother's Day and more than 98,000 women from all
50 states volunteered at the nine previous "National Women Build
Week" events; and
WHEREAS, The Women Build program, made possible with the
support and sponsorship of Lowe's, does not exclude men but
includes women in the construction process, offering an

empowering, unique, fun and positive environment for women to
give back to their communities; and
WHEREAS, In addition to financial and volunteer support,
local Habitat for Humanity organizations offer how-to clinics to
prepare volunteers for the build sites; and
WHEREAS, Habitat for Humanity of the Lehigh Valley's mission
is to help families break the cycle of poverty and build long-
term financial security by helping families in need with a hand
up; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize the week of May 6 through
14, 2017, as "National Women Build Week" in Pennsylvania.
