A RESOLUTION
Designating the month of October 2018 as "Halloween Safety
Month" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Parents, neighborhood associations and local
officials must consider child safety when planning, conducting
or participating in Halloween observances; and
WHEREAS, Whether walking or driving, families should preplan
a familiar trick-or-treating route; and
WHEREAS, Traffic safety guidelines and situational awareness
are important as trick-or-treaters navigate streets and
intersections going door-to-door; and
WHEREAS, To make Halloween a happy occasion and ensure that
children stay as safe as possible, families should review
hazards and age-appropriate safety skills; and
WHEREAS, Speeding cars, low visibility and injuries from
sharp objects while pumpkin carving or trick-or-treating are
known hazards; and
WHEREAS, Darting or running into the road and tripping or
