A RESOLUTION
Designating October 16, 2018, as "Kappa Alpha Psi Day" in
Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Since its inception in January 1911 at Indiana
University in Bloomington, Indiana, Kappa Alpha Psi has promoted
the spiritual, intellectual and moral welfare of its members and
the ideals of advocacy and service on behalf of members'
communities and the public interest; and
WHEREAS, Originally chartered and incorporated in Indiana as
Kappa Alpha Nu on May 15, 1911, the fraternity became known as
Kappa Alpha Psi in April 1915; and
WHEREAS, "Achievement in Every Field of Human Endeavor" is
the fraternity's founding motto; and
WHEREAS, With hundreds of active undergraduate and alumni
chapters, Kappa Alpha Psi has consistently advanced the academic
pursuits and aspirations of its members in keeping with the
highest principles of inclusion; and

WHEREAS, The City of Philadelphia is the site of the
fraternity's international headquarters; and
WHEREAS, The Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation, a nonprofit,
publicly supported organization, advances the fraternity's
philanthropic goals; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate October
16, 2018, as "Kappa Alpha Psi Day" in Pennsylvania; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives commend Kappa
Alpha Psi for its impressive record of service in this
Commonwealth and beyond.
