A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the 3rd Annual Capitol All-Stars Charity Softball
Game.
WHEREAS, On September 24, 2018, members of the Pennsylvania
General Assembly will play a nine-inning charity softball game
at FNB Field on City Island in Harrisburg to raise money for
Feeding Pennsylvania and Hunger-Free Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, More than 1.6 million Pennsylvanians fight hunger,
including approximately 482,000 children who are nutritionally
insecure; and
WHEREAS, With the rising costs of other essentials such as
home heating, medical care and gasoline, utilizing food
assistance organizations has become a way of life for families
to keep food on the table while still paying bills; and
WHEREAS, Approximately 50,000 volunteers give their time at
the 20 food banks and charitable food distribution organizations
and approximately 5,000 food pantries that are located in
Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, Food banks, food rescue organizations, soup kitchens

and food pantries rely on fundraising efforts to continue to
help those Pennsylvanians who are nutritionally insecure; and
WHEREAS, The Capitol All-Stars Charity Softball Game has
raised more than $150,000 to help those who are in need of
emergency food assistance; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the 3rd
Annual Capitol All-Stars Charity Softball Game.
