A RESOLUTION
Designating September 21, 2018, as "Peace Day" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, September 21, 2018, marks the United Nations
International Day of Peace, otherwise known as "Peace Day"; and
WHEREAS, "International Day of Peace" was established by
United Nations Resolution 36/67, which was adopted unanimously
on November 30, 1981; and
WHEREAS, In 2001, the General Assembly of the United Nations
unanimously adopted Resolution 55/282, which declared September
21 an annual day of nonviolence and cease-fire; and
WHEREAS, The United Nations Association of Greater
Philadelphia established "Peace Day Philly" with cooperation
from a wide range of other groups in order to promote peace and
nonviolence; and
WHEREAS, "Peace Day Philly," which organizes "Peace Day"
activities in the City of Brotherly Love, annually involves
