A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the month of October 2018 as "National Arts and
Humanities Month" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, The month of October has been recognized as
"National Arts and Humanities Month" by thousands of arts and
cultural organizations, communities and states across the
country, as well as by the White House and the Congress of the
United States since 1993; and
WHEREAS, The arts and humanities embody much of the
accumulated wisdom, intellect and imagination of humankind; and
WHEREAS, The arts and humanities enhance and enrich the life
of every American; and
WHEREAS, The arts and humanities play a unique role in the
lives of our country, communities and families; and
WHEREAS, The nonprofit arts industry strengthens our economy
by generating $3.3 billion in total economic activity annually,

including $402 million in government revenue, and supports the
full-time equivalent of 100,000 jobs; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
month of October 2018 as "National Arts and Humanities Month" in
Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives call upon
residents to celebrate and promote the arts and culture in our
nation and encourage greater participation by residents of this
Commonwealth in the arts and humanities in their local
communities.
