A RESOLUTION
Designating April 17, 2018, as "WEDnetPA Day" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, WEDnetPA is a Statewide, State-funded workforce
program created in 1999 by the Department of Community and
Economic Development to support essential and advanced
technology skills training for employees of manufacturing and
technology companies throughout this Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, The intent of WEDnetPA is to support and leverage a
company's investment in employee training to reach a level of
performance otherwise unattainable; and
WHEREAS, WEDnetPA services are delivered through a cost-
effective network of educational partners that include community
colleges, State system universities and others; and
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania companies greatly benefit from the
experience and professionalism of these workforce partners; and
WHEREAS, Employees of these companies also greatly benefit
from the training and education supported through WEDnetPA; and

WHEREAS, WEDnetPA has engaged more than 8,500 private-sector
training providers to work with nearly 18,000 Pennsylvania
companies to help train approximately 1.2 million workers; and
WHEREAS, Ninety-five percent of participating companies
experience a positive impact on business, including increased
sales, decreased costs and fewer accidents; and
WHEREAS, Ninety-nine percent of workers who receive training
report positive outcomes, including job promotions, pay raises
and increased morale; and
WHEREAS, A well-trained and talented workforce is the
foundation of a strong business community and thriving state
economy; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate April
17, 2018, as "WEDnetPA Day" in Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives commend and thank
the WEDnetPA partners for their hard work and commitment toward
improving the skills of Pennsylvania's workers and the
competitive position of Pennsylvania's manufacturers and
technology companies.
