A RESOLUTION
Recognizing March 8, 2018, as "World Kidney Day" in
Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, More than 30 million American adults are estimated
to have kidney disease; and
WHEREAS, Kidney disease is the ninth-leading cause of death
in the United States; and
WHEREAS, One in three American adults are at risk for chronic
kidney disease; and
WHEREAS, Risk factors for kidney disease include diabetes,
high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity and family history
of kidney failure; and
WHEREAS, Individuals of African-American, Hispanic, Native
American, Asian or Pacific Islander descent are at a higher risk
for developing kidney disease; and
WHEREAS, The National Kidney Foundation has launched the

"Heart Your Kidneys" campaign to raise public awareness and
elevate knowledge and concern for kidney health; and
WHEREAS, According to the National Kidney Foundation, "World
Kidney Day" highlights the importance of kidneys to an
individual's overall health and the need to reduce the frequency
and impact of kidney disease and health problems associated with
kidney disease; and
WHEREAS, Orange is the signature color for kidney disease and
is used to commemorate "World Kidney Day"; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize March
8, 2018, as "World Kidney Day" in Pennsylvania.
