A RESOLUTION
Urging the Congress of the United States to pass H.R. 3045, the
Eastern Legacy Extension Act, and the President of the United
States to sign H.R. 3045 into law.
WHEREAS, The Consolidated Natural Resources Act of 2008
directed the Secretary of the Interior to complete a special
resource study of the eastern legacy sites associated with the
Lewis and Clark expedition to determine the suitability and
feasibility of adding these sites to the Lewis and Clark
National Historic Trail; and
WHEREAS, In conducting the study, the Secretary of the
Interior was required to analyze the potential impact that the
inclusion of the eastern legacy sites would have on tourism to
the western portion of the trail; and
WHEREAS, The National Park Service evaluated 25 trail
segments and several historic sites in the east related to the
Lewis and Clark expedition; and
