A RESOLUTION
Designating March 1, 2018, as "Saint David's Day" in
Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, During the 19th century, large numbers of people
from Wales settled in Pennsylvania seeking employment in every
field of industry and commerce; and
WHEREAS, Today, millions of Americans proudly proclaim their
Welsh descent; and
WHEREAS, The traditions and heritage of the Welsh have
enriched the culture and fabric of our society; and
WHEREAS, Revolutionary War financier Robert Morris, former
Chief Justice of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court Benjamin R.
Jones, former Federal Circuit Court Judge William Hutchinson and
former Governor Arthur James, among other notable persons, are
all Pennsylvanians of Welsh descent; and
WHEREAS, March 1st is traditionally observed by people of
