A RESOLUTION
Recognizing Vision 2020's Campaign for Women's Equality and
Women 100, the National 19th Amendment Centennial
Celebration.
WHEREAS, Vision 2020 is a national coalition of organizations
and individuals working to achieve economic, political and
social equality for women; and
WHEREAS, Vision 2020 originated in 2009 at the Institute for
Women's Health and Leadership on the campus of Drexel University
College of Medicine in Philadelphia; and
WHEREAS, Vision 2020 was launched publicly in 2010 at the
National Constitution Center in Philadelphia with the intent of
igniting a national discussion and accelerating the pace of
women's progress by illuminating and eliminating the bias and
barriers that perpetuate gender inequality in the United States;
and

WHEREAS, Vision 2020 is comprised of delegates from all 50
states and the District of Columbia; and
WHEREAS, The delegates use their spheres of influence to
amplify the Vision 2020 message and act to accelerate the pace
of women's progress in their own states; and
WHEREAS, The goal of Vision 2020 is to advance and achieve
economic, social, educational and political equality for women
in the United States by 2020; and
WHEREAS, The 19th Amendment to the Constitution of the United
States was ratified on August 18, 1920, guaranteeing women the
right to vote; and
WHEREAS, The 100th anniversary of the ratification of the
19th Amendment will occur in 2020; and
WHEREAS, Philadelphia was home to historic women who played
significant roles in the women's rights movement, including
Lucretia Mott, Alice Paul, Fanny Jackson Coppin and Eliza Sproat
Turner; and
WHEREAS, Vision 2020 will lead the national centennial
commemoration of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution of the
United States in the Women 100 celebration, taking place in
Philadelphia in 2020; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize Vision
2020's Campaign for Women's Equality and Women 100, the National
19th Amendment Centennial Celebration.
