A RESOLUTION
Designating October 6, 2017, as "Domestic Violence Awareness
Day" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Families are the foundation of a safe and healthy
community; and
WHEREAS, Domestic violence crosses all racial, social,
religious, ethnic, geographic and economic boundaries in this
Commonwealth and our nation; and
WHEREAS, One in three residents in this Commonwealth has
witnessed a domestic violence incident; and
WHEREAS, Teen dating violence patterns are similar to adult
domestic violence, with widespread effects on individuals,
families, schools, businesses and health care systems; and
WHEREAS, At least 40% of youths between 11 and 12 years of
age report that their friends have been victims of verbal abuse
