A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the Pennsylvania Municipal Authorities Association
for 75 years of service to the municipal authorities and
residents of this Commonwealth and designating the week of
September 10 through 16, 2017, as "Municipal Authorities
Week" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Municipal authorities serve communities in
Pennsylvania and their residents and provide critical public
services and environmental stewardship; and
WHEREAS, Municipal authorities provide services to more than
6 million residents, including safe drinking water, wastewater
treatment, collection and disposal of solid waste, recycling,
recreation, municipal financing and management of stormwater;
and
WHEREAS, Environmental, economic and public service issues
continue to demand attention for governmental solutions; and
WHEREAS, For 75 years, the Pennsylvania Municipal Authorities
Association has continued to meet the needs of authorities by
providing legislative and regulatory advocacy, member benefit

programs, education and training, an annual conference and trade
show, an interactive website and bi-monthly magazine, legal
guidance and capable staff available to answer inquiries; and
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Municipal Authorities Association
proudly serves more than 700 individual authority members and
593 associate members in the engineering, construction, legal
and financial fields; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
dedication and services provided by authorities throughout
Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania Municipal Authorities
Association for the association's role in guiding its members in
the essential services the association provides our residents
and designate the week of September 10 through 16, 2017, as
"Municipal Authorities Week" in Pennsylvania.
