A RESOLUTION
Congratulating The Pennsylvania State University women's soccer
team on winning the Big Ten regular season championship.
WHEREAS, On October 26, 2016, the Penn State women's soccer
team secured a Big Ten regular season championship by defeating
Ohio State with a score of 2-0; and
WHEREAS, The victory over Ohio State was the team's ninth
shutout of the season; and
WHEREAS, The 2016 Big Ten regular season championship is the
team's 18th in 19 years; and
WHEREAS, The Lady Lions finished the regular season with a
conference record of 7 wins, 1 tie and 3 losses and an overall
record of 12 wins, 5 ties and 4 losses; and
WHEREAS, With the win over Ohio State, Penn State women's
soccer was tied for third for the most Big Ten titles by a Big
Ten program since the start of the 1992-1993 school year; and

WHEREAS, The Penn State women's soccer team moved on to the
National Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament and exited
in the second round; and
WHEREAS, At the conclusion of the season, six members of the
Penn State women's soccer program represented their home
countries in the 2016 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Port Moresby, Papua
New Guinea; and
WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Head Coach Erica Dambach,
the Lady Lions have amassed an all-time record of 87 wins, 15
ties and 6 losses in Big Ten regular season matches; and
WHEREAS, The Penn State women's soccer team has also enjoyed
academic success with an Academic Progress Rate (APR) that has
exceeded their sport's average by 10 points; and
WHEREAS, During the 2015-2016 season, the team had a perfect
APR of 1000; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives congratulate The
Pennsylvania State University women's soccer team on winning the
Big Ten regular season championship.
