A RESOLUTION
Honoring the lives and memory of those killed and injured during
the bombing at the Ariana Grande concert at Manchester Arena
in Manchester, England.
WHEREAS, On May 22, 2017, at approximately 10:30 p.m. as
concert goers were leaving an Ariana Grande show at Manchester
Arena in Manchester, England, a bomb went off killing at least
22 people, injuring at least 59 others and leaving families
searching for their loved ones; and
WHEREAS, The bombing was determined to be a terrorist attack
targeting an audience made up mostly of young teenage girls,
shocking even by the standards of contemporary terrorism; and
WHEREAS, The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the
suicide bombing; and

WHEREAS, Soft targets, including concert venues, are
generally attacked to try to intimidate and terrify people and
often instill the greatest amount of fear in everyday life; and
WHEREAS, In the chaotic aftermath of the explosion, police
and other first responders rushed to the explosion and risked
their lives to save others; and
WHEREAS, Medical professionals worked tirelessly, taxi
drivers offered free rides and local residents opened their
homes to those who were in need; and
WHEREAS, The United Kingdom has now raised their threat level
from severe to critical and authorities are on alert for other
potential imminent terror attacks that may occur; and
WHEREAS, What had been planned to be a fun night for many,
turned tragic in the blink of an eye; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the lives
and memory of those killed and injured during the bombing at the
Ariana Grande concert at Manchester Arena in Manchester,
England; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives extend
condolences to their families and concern for those injured and
missing and express gratitude to all emergency workers, first
responders and volunteers for their efforts.
