A RESOLUTION
Designating June 29, 2017, as "Turkic Cultural Day" in
Pennsylvania and recognizing the valuable work of the Council
of Turkic American Associations and the Turkish Cultural
Center of Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, The Council of Turkic American Associations and the
Turkish Cultural Center of Pennsylvania are hosting their sixth
annual "Turkic Cultural Day" to showcase the rich mosaic of
different cultures, religions and ethnicities and to educate the
public regarding the country of Turkey; and
WHEREAS, This Commonwealth proudly welcomes the Turkic-
American community to participate in the festivities to
commemorate the observance of "Turkic Cultural Day"; and
WHEREAS, Turkey, a secular democracy, has contributed to the
foreign policy of the United States in the Balkans, the Middle
East, Central Asia and the Caucasus; and
WHEREAS, The Council of Turkic American Associations serves
as an educational council that promotes Turkic-American culture

and heritage; and
WHEREAS, The Turkish Cultural Center of Pennsylvania
strengthens the cultural and educational ties among people from
diverse cultural backgrounds and furthers the cause of promoting
the Turkish heritage of tolerance and understanding; and
WHEREAS, The Council of Turkic American Associations and the
Turkish Cultural Center of Pennsylvania serve a diverse Turkic-
American population in this Commonwealth with heritages from the
countries of: Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan,
Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan; and
WHEREAS, Americans of Turkic origin play a significant role
in the ethnic diversity of this Commonwealth by incorporating
their rich spiritual and cultural heritage and their dedication
to the responsibilities of good citizenship; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate June
29, 2017, as "Turkic Cultural Day" in Pennsylvania and encourage
all residents of this Commonwealth to recognize the importance
of this day; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
efforts of the Council of Turkic American Associations and the
Turkish Cultural Center of Pennsylvania in promoting mutual
understanding, respect and friendship between Turkic Americans
and their neighbors.
