A RESOLUTION
Designating May 12, 2017, as "Fibromyalgia Awareness Day" in
Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Each year on May 12, "Fibromyalgia Awareness Day"
events extend throughout the world in an effort to raise
awareness and funds to help further support individuals with
fibromyalgia and other chronic pain illnesses; and
WHEREAS, Fibromyalgia is a common and complex pain disorder
that causes widespread pain and tenderness that may occur
bodywide or migrate to various parts of the body; and
WHEREAS, An estimated 10 million Americans have fibromyalgia;
and
WHEREAS, Fibromyalgia occurs in individuals of all ages; and
WHEREAS, There is no cure for fibromyalgia; and
WHEREAS, "Fibromyalgia Awareness Day" celebrates the
successes of individuals who struggle with this condition,

remembers individuals lost to the disease and inspires
individuals to take action against fibromyalgia; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate May 12,
2017, as "Fibromyalgia Awareness Day" in Pennsylvania.
