A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the week of May 21 through 27, 2017, as "Public
Works Week" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, The American Public Works Association has 29,000
members and has sponsored "National Public Works Week" since
1960; and
WHEREAS, "Public Works Week" is designed to educate
communities and their leaders on the importance of our nation's
infrastructure and public works services; and
WHEREAS, Public works are essential to the quality of life of
all residents of this Commonwealth, and "Public Works Week"
affirms the contributions of public works professionals to this
Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, "Public Works Week" serves as a time to recognize
the contributions of public works professionals who design,
build, plan, operate and maintain the transportation, water
supply, water treatment and solid waste disposal systems, public

buildings and other structures and facilities essential to our
nation's economy and way of life; and
WHEREAS, Public works professionals exhibit dedication and
expertise at all levels of government and the private sector and
are a capital investment in the economic growth, development and
stability of our nation; and
WHEREAS, It is important for this Commonwealth to honor
public works professionals who devote their lives to service of
our nation; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
week of May 21 through 27, 2017, as "Public Works Week" in
Pennsylvania.
