A RESOLUTION
Designating April 28, 2017, as "Workers' Memorial Day" in
Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Each year on April 28, communities and worksites
around the world honor friends, family members and colleagues
who have been killed or injured on the job; and
WHEREAS, In 2015, the Federal Bureau of Labor Statistics
reported that more than 4,800 workers suffered fatal workplace
injuries, the highest rate since more than 5,200 fatal injuries
in 2008; and
WHEREAS, During 2015, more than 3 million nonfatal work-
related injuries and illnesses occurred; and
WHEREAS, During 2015, 173 workers lost their lives due to
workplace accidents in this Commonwealth, a decrease from 183
fatal workplace accidents in 2013; and
WHEREAS, Fatal occupational injuries in this Commonwealth
