A RESOLUTION
Recognizing Souderton Area High School's SouderTHON in
Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Souderton Area High School's SouderTHON was held
from 6 p.m. on February 24, 2017, until 6 a.m. on February 25,
2017; and
WHEREAS, SouderTHON is a 12-hour-long, no-sitting, no-
sleeping fundraising marathon; and
WHEREAS, SouderTHON is modeled after The Pennsylvania State
University's 46-hour THON, held on the previous weekend, which
raised more than $10 million to fight pediatric cancer; and
WHEREAS, All of Souderton Area High School's student clubs
played a part in supporting SouderTHON; and
WHEREAS, Approximately 700 Souderton Area High School
students signed up to take part in SouderTHON; and
WHEREAS, Souderton Area High School's teachers,
administrative staff and security officers volunteered to assist
at the overnight event; and
WHEREAS, Elementary school students attended assemblies led

by Souderton Area High School students to learn about the
mission of SouderTHON; and
WHEREAS, Families participated in the SouderTHON community
hour and more than doubled the number of dancers participating
during that time; and
WHEREAS, Activities for community hour featured craft tables,
face painting, carnival games, a moon bounce, dancing, several
sports activities and a chance to meet some favorite characters;
and
WHEREAS, Proceeds from the 2017 SouderTHON support
individuals and families battling cancer through the Peter
Powerhouse Foundation organized by Peter Zucca, now a seventh
grader at Indian Valley Middle School, and For Pete's Sake
(formerly Crossing the Finish Line); therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize
Souderton Area High School's SouderTHON.
