A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the month of April 2017 as "Child Identity Theft
Awareness Month" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, According to the United States Postal Inspection
Service, identity theft is America's fastest growing crime; and
WHEREAS, According to the United States Postal Inspection
Service, 9.9 million Americans were victims of identity theft in
2011; and
WHEREAS, According to the United States Postal Inspection
Service, losses incurred by Americans victimized by identity
theft totaled approximately $5 billion in 2011; and
WHEREAS, According to a study conducted by ID Analytics, more
than 140,000 children are victims of identity theft annually in
the United States; and
WHEREAS, The Federal Trade Commission testified before the
Congress of the United States that child identity theft is
