A RESOLUTION
Designating the week of May 8 through 14, 2017, as "Fallen
Firefighters Survivors' Week" in Pennsylvania; and
designating May 12, 2017, as "Fallen Firefighters Survivors'
Day" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Throughout this Commonwealth, thousands of
firefighters respond daily to fires and other disasters, putting
their lives at risk with each call to duty; and
WHEREAS, Tragically, not all firefighters who respond make it
back to the station alive; and
WHEREAS, Each fallen firefighter leaves behind family and
loved ones in addition to fellow firefighters; and
WHEREAS, The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF)
was created by the Congress of the United States in 1992 to lead
a nationwide effort to remember America's fallen firefighters;
and

WHEREAS, Since that time, the NFFF has developed and expanded
programs to honor our fallen heroes and remember their families
and coworkers; and
WHEREAS, The NFFF receives no direct Federal funding but
instead relies on grants, individual and corporate donations and
fundraising events; and
WHEREAS, It is fitting we honor the firefighting community
whenever possible by helping their survivors because the
firefighting community is constantly available to serve the
residents of this Commonwealth; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
week of May 8 through 14, 2017, as "Fallen Firefighters
Survivors' Week" in Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate May 12,
2017, as "Fallen Firefighters Survivors' Day" in Pennsylvania.
