A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and congratulating the United Way of Pennsylvania,
its affiliated local entities and all of its volunteers on
their annual Hill Day on March 21, 2017.
WHEREAS, Since its founding in 1966, the United Way of
Pennsylvania has been a leader in the Commonwealth's charitable
community; and
WHEREAS, The United Way of Pennsylvania and its affiliated
local entities provide for funding and logistical support for
critical human services programs in local communities, with a
focus on improving the health, education and financial stability
of every individual; and
WHEREAS, The 57 local United Way organizations in
Pennsylvania guide the charitable efforts in ways that reflect
each community's specific needs; and
WHEREAS, The leadership of the United Way is volunteer driven
and provides oversight and accountability on behalf of donors;

WHEREAS, More than $177 million was raised for charitable
purposes through the United Way of Pennsylvania in 2015; and
WHEREAS, The United Way's volunteers commit many hours of
work to charitable causes, including through marquee events such
as the Days of Caring; and
WHEREAS, As part of its mission, the United Way of
Pennsylvania also provides feedback and input on public policy
debates, including efficient human services delivery and early
childhood education programs; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize and
congratulate the United Way of Pennsylvania, its affiliated
local entities and all of its volunteers on their annual Hill
Day on March 21, 2017.
