AN ACT
Declaring and adopting the poem "Pennsylvania," by Rich
Saporito, as the State poem of the Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Official State poem.
The poem entitled "Pennsylvania," by Rich Saporito, is hereby
adopted as the State poem of the Commonwealth and shall be the
official State poem for all public purposes. The poem is as
follows:
"PENNSYLVANIA"
Pennsylvania is home to me, it's where I always been,
It's where I always want to be, right next to my kin.
Rolling hills and mountains, that reach up in the sky,
Crystal lakes and fountains, I'll never say goodbye.
To Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania, you're the land for me.
In Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania, is where I wanna be.
Steel mills and coal mines, surround the cities and towns,

Farm lands and rail lines, and valleys so far down.
From Mason Dixon to Bradford, and Pittsburgh to Philly,
Rows of corn and cattle herds, as far as you can see.
Oh Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania, you're the land for me.
In Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania, is where I wanna be.
Ruffed grouse picks all around, under the Hemlock tree,
And Mountain Laurel it abounds, for everyone to see.
The Great Dane dog rises up, at least four foot high,
The Amish win a ribbon prize, for their shoo fly pie.
Oh Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania, you're the land for me.
In Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania, is where I wanna be.
Fireflies light up the night, and crickets sing their song,
Birds chirp in the morning light, as white tails run along.
Trout are swimming up the creek, and salmon make their run,
Cruises and fairs throughout the week, we're gonna have some
fun.
In Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania, you're the land for me.
In Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania, is where I wanna be.
Section 2. Assignment of copyright.
(a) Assignment.--This act shall not be effective until the
owner of the copyright assigns all rights, title and interest in
the copyright to this poem to the Commonwealth.
(b) Payment.--No payment or other considerations shall be
paid to any person for the assignment under subsection (a).
(c) Reproduction of use.--The Commonwealth may not charge
anyone for the reproduction or use of this poem.
Section 3. Notice and publication.
Upon the assignment of all rights, title and interest in the
copyright to this poem by the owner of the copyright, the
Secretary of the Commonwealth shall provide notice of the

assignment to the Legislative Reference Bureau, which shall
publish the notice in the Pennsylvania Bulletin.
Section 4. Effective date.
This act shall take effect upon the publication in the
Pennsylvania Bulletin of the notice under section 3 of this act.
