AN ACT
Amending Title 51 (Military Affairs) of the Pennsylvania
Consolidated Statutes, in professional and occupational
licenses, further providing for definitions and providing for
military medical personnel pilot program.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Section 7501 of Title 51 of the Pennsylvania
Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding definitions to read:
§ 7501. Definitions.
The following words and phrases when used in this chapter
shall have the meanings given to them in this section unless the
context clearly indicates otherwise:
"Corpsman." An individual who has served as military medical
personnel in the United States Navy or Coast Guard and who was
discharged or released from such service under conditions other
than dishonorable.
"Medic." An individual who has served in the United States

"Medical technician." An individual who has served in the
United States Air Force as military medical personnel and who
was discharged or released from such service under conditions
other than dishonorable.

Section 2. Title 51 is amended by adding a section to read:
§ 7505. Military medical personnel pilot program.
(a) Establishment.--The Department of Health and the
Department of State in consultation with the department shall
establish a pilot program in which military medical personnel
may practice and perform certain delegated duties that
constitute the practice of medicine under the supervision of a
physician or podiatrist who holds an active, unrestricted
license issued by the Commonwealth. The duties shall reflect the
level of training and experience of the military medical
personnel. The supervising physician or podiatrist shall retain
responsibility for the care of the patient.
(b) Participation.--A licensed physician, podiatrist,
hospital or medical facility that is supervised by one or more
physicians or podiatrists may participate in the pilot program.
(c) Requirements.--The departments listed in subsection (a)
shall establish general requirements for participating military
medical personnel, licensees and employers.
Section 3. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
