AN ACT
Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
act relating to the public school system, including certain
provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
laws relating thereto," in terms and courses of study,
providing for alternative instruction without technology.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. The act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), known
as the Public School Code of 1949, is amended by adding a
section to read:
Section 1528. Alternative Instruction Without Technology.--
(a) Upon receipt of a written request from a child's parent or
guardian to have the child excused from specific instruction in
which the child is required to use technology, a school entity
shall provide the child with alternative instruction that does
not require the child to use technology.
(b) As used in this section, the following words and phrases
shall have the meanings given to them in this subsection unless
the context clearly indicates otherwise:

"School entity." A public school district, intermediate
unit, area vocational-technical school, charter school or
regional charter school.
"Technology." Any equipment by means of which a user is
provided with access to the Internet.
Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
