AN ACT
Designating a bridge on that portion of State Route 1002, known
as Friend Lea Road over U.S. Route 219, Ebensburg Borough,
Cambria County, as the Cyril Thomas Yeckley Memorial Bridge.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Cyril Thomas Yeckley Memorial Bridge.
(a) Findings.--The General Assembly finds and declares as
follows:
(1) Cyril Thomas Yeckley was born on October 20, 1945,
in Carrolltown, Cambria County.
(2) Cyril Thomas Yeckley was a private first class
rifleman in the United States Marine Corps when he began a
tour in Vietnam on February 23, 1969.
(3) On March 13, 1969, Private First Class Yeckley
engaged in hostile action in Quang Nam, South Vietnam.
(4) Private First Class Yeckley was killed in action,

having died of multiple fragmentation wounds.
(5) Private First Class Yeckley was awarded the National
Defense Service Medal, Purple Heart, Vietnam Campaign Medal
and Vietnam Service Medal.
(b) Designation.--The bridge located on State Route 1002,
known as Friend Lea Road, over U.S. Route 219 in Ebensburg,
Cambria County, is hereby designated the Cyril Thomas Yeckley
Memorial Bridge.
(c) Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and
maintain appropriate signs displaying the name of the bridge to
traffic in both directions on the bridge.
Section 2. Effective date.
This act shall take effect in 60 days.
