AN ACT
Designating the Department of Conservation and Natural
Resources' Resource Management Center, located in Conyngham
Township, Columbia County, as the Edward W. Helfrick Resource
Management Center.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Edward W. Helfrick Resource Management Center.
(a) Declaration of policy.--The General Assembly finds and
declares as follows:
(1) Edward W. Helfrick served as Senator from the 27th
Senatorial District from 1981 to 2003.
(2) The Roaring Creek Tract of the Weiser State Forest
in Northumberland and Columbia Counties was established in
2003.
(3) Senator Helfrick was widely known as an outdoors
enthusiast, taking part in and promoting outdoor recreational
opportunities.
(4) Senator Helfrick was instrumental in the transfer of

land from a private company to the Commonwealth to establish
the Roaring Creek Tract of the Weiser State Forest to provide
additional outdoor recreational opportunities and to preserve
the land in an undeveloped state.
(b) Designation.--
(1) The Resource Management Center located in the Weiser
State Forest in Conyngham Township, Columbia County, is
designated and shall be referred to as the Edward W. Helfrick
Resource Management Center.
(2) The Department of General Services shall erect and
the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources shall
maintain appropriate signage to indicate the designation
under paragraph (1).
Section 2. Effective date.
This act shall take effect immediately.
