AN ACT
Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania
Consolidated Statutes, in bribery and corrupt influence,
further providing for the offense of bribery in official and
political matters and providing for the offense of acceding
to corruption.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Section 4701 of Title 18 of the Pennsylvania
Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding a subsection to read:
§ 4701. Bribery in official and political matters.

(a.1) Additional offense defined.--The Governor or a person
acting on behalf of the Governor is guilty of bribery, a felony
of the third degree, if he offers or promises to confer upon a
member of the General Assembly or a person within the member's
immediate family a specified appointed position in exchange for
the member's official vote on a matter before a house, committee
or subcommittee of the General Assembly.

Section 2. Title 18 is amended by adding a section to read:
§ 4701.1. Acceding to corruption.
A member of the General Assembly who accepts an offer or
promise of an appointment for himself or a member of his
immediate family to a specified position from the Governor or a
person acting on behalf of the Governor in exchange for the
member's official vote on a matter before a house, committee or
subcommittee of the General Assembly is guilty of a felony of
the third degree.
Section 3. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
