A RESOLUTION
Honoring the life and expressing condolences upon the passing of
Police Officer Richard Champion whose life was lost in the
line of duty on December 14, 2014.
WHEREAS, Police Officer Richard Champion of Ligonier was
killed on December 14, 2014, in a two-vehicle crash on State
Route 51 in Perry Township, Fayette County, while pursuing
another vehicle; and
WHEREAS, Officer Champion was a member of the Perryopolis
Borough Police Department and previously worked for the Derry
Borough Police Department in Westmoreland County; and
WHEREAS, Before graduating from the Westmoreland County
Community College's Municipal Police Officers' Training Academy
in November 2013, Officer Champion served with bravery and valor
in the United States Army, including two tours overseas; and
WHEREAS, Officer Champion is survived by his wife, Dawn, and
son, Tanner; and
WHEREAS, The life of Officer Champion was dedicated to public
service for both his community and his country; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the life
and express condolences upon the passing of Police Officer
Richard Champion whose life was lost in the line of duty on
December 14, 2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives transmit a copy
of this resolution to the family of Officer Champion.
