A RESOLUTION
Designating October 2, 2016, as "Pulaski Day" and the month of
October 2016 as "Polish American Heritage Month" in
Pennsylvania, commemorating the 237th anniversary of
Brigadier General Casimir Pulaski's death and recognizing the
important contributions of Polish Americans to this nation's
history, and extending best wishes to the Polish American
community in the City of Philadelphia on the 83rd anniversary
of the Pulaski Day Parade.
WHEREAS, Polish people have contributed greatly to the
history of this nation; and
WHEREAS, The first Polish people settled in America in 1608;
and
WHEREAS, Casimir Pulaski, born March 6, 1745, in Warsaw,
Poland, who was Brigadier General of the Cavalry of the
Continental Army during the American Revolution, earned the
title of "Father of the American Cavalry" and proved himself to
be a brilliant tactician and leader; and
WHEREAS, In October 1779, Brigadier General Pulaski was
