A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the week of September 19 through 25, 2016, as "Youth
2 Youth: Partners 4 Peace Week" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, The United States Department of Labor established
Job Corps in 1964 to achieve the goal of providing hands-on
training to low-income students in America's fastest growing
careers; and
WHEREAS, Job Corps is the nation's largest technical training
and education program for low-income students between 16 and 24
years of age; and
WHEREAS, In the spring of 2015, Job Corps students decided to
organize and take action around the issue of preventing youth
violence in the United States; and
WHEREAS, The Youth 2 Youth: Partners 4 Peace, or Y2Y, is a
violence-prevention initiative created and led by Job Corps
students; and
WHEREAS, There are four main goals to the Y2Y:

(1) Talk openly about violence, aggression and bullying.
(2) Learn how peers have been affected by youth
violence.
(3) Empower one another to make a difference.
(4) Explore solutions for the future;
and
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania has four Job Corps Centers at the
following locations:
(1) Keystone, 235 W. Foothills Dr., Drums, PA 18222
(2) Philadelphia, 2810 S. 20th St., Building 12,
Philadelphia, PA 19145
(3) Pittsburgh, 7175 Highland Dr, Pittsburgh, PA 15206
(4) Red Rock, P.O. Box 218, Route 487 N., Lopez, PA
18628;
and
WHEREAS, Individuals can join Job Corps students in opposing
violence, aggression and bullying by downloading and sharing
materials from the toolkit, reading the blog to hear how young
people are being affected by and working against violence and
sharing stories; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
week of September 19 through 25, 2016, as "Youth 2 Youth:
Partners 4 Peace Week" in Pennsylvania.
