A RESOLUTION
Designating the week of July 3 through 9, 2016, as "DJ Farrar
Week" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, DJ Farrar was a courageous participant in the
Montgomery Township Baseball and Softball Association baseball
program from T-ball through the AAA program; and
WHEREAS, Sadly, DJ Farrar's life was cut short on January 15,
2003, when he succumbed to brain cancer; and
WHEREAS, The DJ Farrar Memorial Tournament is held annually
for under-12 baseball teams to honor DJ Farrar; and
WHEREAS, The Montgomery Township Baseball & Softball
Association created the tournament to celebrate sportsmanship,
effort and attitude, traits that DJ exemplified while playing
baseball and in everyday life; and
WHEREAS, The 14th Annual DJ Farrar Memorial Tournament is
being held July 6 through 10, 2016; and
WHEREAS, All proceeds will be donated to a charity selected

by the Farrar family; and
WHEREAS, Since its inception, the tournament has raised
approximately $25,000 for the Oncology Ward of the Children's
Hospital of Philadelphia and for Project DJ, an organization
created by DJ's family that makes blankets and quilts for
pediatric cancer patients; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
week of July 3 through 9, 2016, as "DJ Farrar Week" in
Pennsylvania.
