A RESOLUTION
Designating the week of May 2 through 6, 2016, as "Teacher
Appreciation Week" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Teachers are an invaluable resource as they touch
the lives of children and youth every day in schools across this
Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, Teachers create a positive, safe and supportive
learning environment where students attain new knowledge,
experiences and social skills and are encouraged to overcome
challenges and obstacles; and
WHEREAS, Teachers influence students to develop a lifelong
desire for learning and to become successful, contributing
members of society; and
WHEREAS, Teachers demonstrate the values of hard work,
discipline, perseverance and compassion through their attitudes

and actions in their everyday duties, providing a positive role
model for their students to emulate; and
WHEREAS, The contributions made by teachers are hugely
significant, as their work and impact in shaping the lives of
students extends far beyond the boundaries of the classroom; and
WHEREAS, Teachers guide, direct and inspire students,
transforming their lives by helping them to recognize their
gifts and reach their potential, and motivate students to pursue
their dreams; and
WHEREAS, Teachers positively impact the future individual
earnings of students and the future of this Commonwealth's
economy as a whole, making the expansive value of teachers to
this Commonwealth inestimable; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
week of May 2 through 6, 2016, as "Teacher Appreciation Week" in
Pennsylvania and declare its appreciation to all teachers for
their commitment to successfully educating students in this
Commonwealth.
