A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the week of November 2 through 8, 2015, as "National
Apprenticeship Week" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, "National Apprenticeship Week" is being observed for
the first time in November 2015; and
WHEREAS, "National Apprenticeship Week" will offer employers,
industry associations, labor, education and other critical
partners the opportunity to showcase their apprenticeship
programs through apprenticeship program open houses, business-
to-business outreach events, apprentice signing days and
graduations, new industry and employer apprenticeship
commitments, skills competitions and high school visits, blogs
and social media activities and various other outreach and
promotional activities; and
WHEREAS, Apprenticeships continue to serve a vital role in

the occupational development of young Pennsylvanians every year;
and
WHEREAS, In 2014, 10,821 registered apprentices practiced
their trade in Pennsylvania, the eighth highest ranking in the
United States; and
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania had 744 active apprentice programs in
2014, ranking ninth in the United States; and
WHEREAS, More than 1,880 Pennsylvania apprentices completed
their training in 2014, with Pennsylvania ranking third in the
United States; and
WHEREAS, In 2014, the number of registered new apprentices
and apprenticeship programs in Pennsylvania continued to grow to
3,708 and 44, respectively; and
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania continues to be at the forefront of
apprenticeship training; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
week of November 2 through 8, 2015, as "National Apprenticeship
Week" in Pennsylvania.
