A RESOLUTION
Recognizing September 11, 2015, as the 14th anniversary of the
September 11, 2001, Al Qaeda attacks on our nation and
honoring the sacrifices of the victims and first responders.
WHEREAS, The September 11, 2001, attacks were a series of
four coordinated terrorist attacks masterminded by Osama bin
Laden; and
WHEREAS, Al Qaeda terrorists hijacked planes to execute
suicide attacks on the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in
New York City and the Pentagon in Washington, DC; and
WHEREAS, The terrorists also attempted to attack a third
target on that fateful day, but they were unsuccessful and
crashed a hijacked plane into a field in Stony Creek Township,
Somerset County; and

WHEREAS, The heroic efforts of the passengers of United
Airlines Flight 93, who attempted to retake control of the
plane, averted further tragedy, most likely in Washington, DC;
and
WHEREAS, The multiple tragedies that occurred on September
11, 2001, have affected the lives of all Americans; and
WHEREAS, Almost 3,000 people died in the September 11th
attacks; and
WHEREAS, The families, friends and coworkers of these victims
have suffered most from the cowardly acts of Al Qaeda militants;
and
WHEREAS, First responders in New York City, Washington, DC,
and Shanksville sacrificed greatly to rescue the victims of the
September 11th plane crashes, and many lost their lives in the
process; and
WHEREAS, Individuals from all walks of life have helped to
rebuild these crash sites and memorialize the victims over the
past 10 years; and
WHEREAS, The men and women of our armed forces have fought
bravely and tirelessly in the global war on terror to track down
Osama bin Laden and protect our nation; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize
September 11, 2015, as the 14th anniversary of the September 11,
2001, Al Qaeda attacks on our nation; and be if further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives remember the
almost 3,000 victims of the September 11th attacks and the
countless others who faced personal tragedies on that day; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the
sacrifices made by first responders on and after September 11,

2001, as they risked their lives to rescue and protect victims
of this tragic day and all Americans; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives venerate the
brave soldiers who have waged the war on terror over the past 10
years and continue to do so; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives encourage all
Pennsylvanians and Americans to recall and recapture the unity
with which we, in the months following September 11, 2001,
overcame the many challenges and threats we faced; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives encourage all
Pennsylvanians and Americans to share the history of September
11, 2001, with generations to come.
