A RESOLUTION
Designating the month of November 2015 as "Commonwealth Hunters
Recognition Month" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania has a rich history of hunting and
trapping that has spanned generations; and
WHEREAS, The official State animal of this Commonwealth is
the whitetail deer; and
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania has the most registered deer hunters in
this country; and
WHEREAS, Common game species in Pennsylvania are deer,
rabbit, pheasant, ruffed grouse, bear, squirrel and waterfowl;
and
WHEREAS, A recent report found that all hunting-related
activities in Pennsylvania accounted for nearly $1 billion in
retail sales, with over $600 million of that being from deer
hunting alone; and

WHEREAS, The purpose of "Commonwealth Hunters Recognition
Month" is to recognize the nearly 1 million deer hunters in
Pennsylvania, to bring awareness to the importance of hunting
and trapping in Pennsylvania and to educate individuals in
Pennsylvania about safe and responsible hunting; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
month of November 2015 as "Commonwealth Hunters Recognition
Month" in Pennsylvania.
