A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the retirement of Edwin D. Hill, Pennsylvania native
and International President of the International Brotherhood
of Electrical Workers.
WHEREAS, Edwin D. Hill is a native of Freedom, Beaver County,
and a graduate of Freedom High School and attended The
Pennsylvania State University and Indiana University of
Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, Beginning his career as a second-generation
journeyman electrician upon graduating from his apprenticeship
in 1960, Mr. Hill became a member of Beaver County's IBEW Local
Union 712; and
WHEREAS, Holding several appointments at IBEW Local Union
712, Mr. Hill served as the first registrar, founded the
scholarship fund and rose to regional prominence as business

manager and vice president of IBEW's Third District, which
includes Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey and Delaware; and
WHEREAS, Working to ensure the financial security of the IBEW
and its members, Mr. Hill became the trustee of the National
Electrical Benefit Fund, secretary of the National Electrical
Annuity Plan and trustee for the IBEW Officers and
Representatives and Office Employees Pension Plans; and
WHEREAS, After serving the IBEW for over three and one-half
years in the dual roles of international secretary and
international secretary-treasurer, Mr. Hill was appointed as
international president of the 725,000-member IBEW on January
29, 2001; and
WHEREAS, Edwin D. Hill has spent the entirety of his 55-year
career making important contributions and toiling in support of
Pennsylvania workers; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
achievements and contributions of Pennsylvania native Edwin D.
Hill on the occasion of his June 1, 2015, retirement as
International President of the International Brotherhood of
Electrical Workers.
