A RESOLUTION
Honoring volunteers and contributors across this Commonwealth
who participate in and support Relay For Life events and
recognizing Relay For Life of New Castle on its 21st year of
participation in the American Cancer Society's national Relay
For Life movement.
WHEREAS, The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is the
world's largest and most impactful fundraising event to end
cancer; and
WHEREAS, Relay For Life unites communities across the globe
to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones
lost and take action to finish the fight against cancer; and
WHEREAS, Relay for Life events are held in more than 5,200
communities and 20 countries; and
WHEREAS, The Relay For Life of New Castle event will be held
on May 30, 2015, marking its 21st year of participation; and
WHEREAS, Over the last 20 years, this event has raised over
$4 million dollars; and

WHEREAS, According to the American Cancer Society, the funds
raised by Relay For Life events help to save over 400 lives a
day; and
WHEREAS, Relay For Life events such as Relay For Life New
Castle raise more than $400 million each year, which is invested
in groundbreaking cancer research and used to provide free
information and services to cancer patients and their
caregivers; and
WHEREAS, The annual event calls on individuals, businesses
and organizations to contribute their time, talent and resources
in bringing teams of volunteers to the event; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor volunteers
and contributors across this Commonwealth who participate in and
support Relay For Life events and recognize Relay For Life of
New Castle on its 21st year of participation in the American
Cancer Society's national Relay For Life movement.
