A RESOLUTION
Designating April 22, 2015, as "Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania
Day" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's official railroad
museum, the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, was created by an
act of the General Assembly in 1963; and
WHEREAS, The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania was opened to
the public 40 years ago on April 22, 1975, in Strasburg,
Lancaster County; and
WHEREAS, The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania has since hosted
millions of visitors from around this Commonwealth, around the
United States and around the world; and
WHEREAS, The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania has been the
steward of more than half a million archival images, more than
17,000 three-dimensional artifacts and more than 100 historic

locomotives and railroad cars made or operated in this
Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, The museum has educated the public about the rich,
diverse and significant heritage of railroading and railroaders
in this Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, The museum has contributed to the economic health,
well-being and quality of life for this Commonwealth and its
residents; and
WHEREAS, This Commonwealth is proud of its past and current
railroaders and its railroad industry; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That it is with sincere appreciation and in
recognition of the Railroad Museum's accomplishments and
contributions on behalf of the Commonwealth that the House of
Representatives designate April 22, 2015, as "Railroad Museum of
Pennsylvania Day" in Pennsylvania.
