INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,

A RESOLUTION
Designating the month of September 2015 as "Light the Night Walk
Month" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) has a mission
focused on curing leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and
myeloma and improving the quality of life for blood cancer
patients and their families; and
WHEREAS, LLS operates as the world's largest voluntary health
agency dedicated to blood cancer; and
WHEREAS, LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around
the world and provides free information and support services;
and
WHEREAS, LLS has dedicated more than $1 billion in funding
for breakthrough blood cancer research since its founding in
1949; and

WHEREAS, LLS's key priorities help to ensure that blood
cancer patients live better, longer lives; and
WHEREAS, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light the Night
Walk funds lifesaving research and access to treatment, support
programs and education materials for people battling blood
cancer; and
WHEREAS, Friends, families and coworkers form fundraising
teams, and millions of consumers aid LLS's efforts by donating
at retail outlets throughout North America; and
WHEREAS, All of these efforts culminate in inspirational,
memorable evening walks in nearly 200 communities each fall
across North America; and
WHEREAS, Twelve communities across this Commonwealth,
including Erie, Scranton, Uniontown, Wayne, Pittsburgh,
Johnstown, Lancaster, Allentown, Harrisburg, Doylestown, York
and Philadelphia, have scheduled Light the Night walks in
September and October of this year; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
month of September 2015 as "Light the Night Walk Month" in
Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge its members,
staff and interested residents and businesses to support or
participate in local Light the Night walks.
