A RESOLUTION
Designating March 11, 2015, as "Registered Dietitian
Nutritionist Day" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Food is the substance by which life is sustained,
while healthy eating focused on good nutrition can enhance great
health and quality living and prevent a variety of diseases; and
WHEREAS, The type, quality and amount of food that
individuals consume daily plays a vital role in their overall
health, physical fitness, mental development and longevity; and
WHEREAS, Registered dietitian nutritionists form an important
part of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, with the academy
recognizing National Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day on
March 11, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Registered dietitian nutritionists work as food and
nutrition experts who focus their efforts on healthy eating

practices and assist individuals of all walks of life to make
informed choices of good foods and diets based on their specific
needs; and
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania licenses many registered dietitian
nutritionists yearly to work in hospitals, schools, public
health clinics, nursing homes, fitness centers, the food
industry, universities and other entities; and
WHEREAS, More than 3,700 residents of this Commonwealth are
members of the Pennsylvania Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics,
which is an affiliate of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
and advocates for promotion of optimal nutrition, health and
well-being in this Commonwealth; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate March
11, 2015, as "Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day" in
Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives laud the
Pennsylvania Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, all of its
members and any other registered dietitian nutritionists in
Pennsylvania for their daily work to promote good nutrition,
good eating and quality living for individuals in this
Commonwealth and for their ongoing efforts to inform all
residents of how to "Bite into a Healthy Lifestyle."
