A RESOLUTION
Designating March 2015 as "Irish American Heritage Month" in
Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, On March 17, 2015, the Irish community in this
Commonwealth will celebrate the occasion of the feast of the
glorious Apostle of Ireland, Saint Patrick; and
WHEREAS, "Saint Patrick, Bless, Strengthen and Pray for our
Families" is the theme of the 2015 St. Patrick's Day Parade in
Philadelphia; and
WHEREAS, Fleeing political, religious and racial persecution
in their homeland, Irish immigrants arrived on our shores
penniless and unwanted, yet filled with hope that America held a
future in which they and their children would enjoy the
bountiful fruits of a nation founded upon the principles of
liberty and justice for all; and

WHEREAS, In every phase of our national history, Irish
Americans have taken their place at the forefront of the
political, economic, religious, social and artistic fields; and
WHEREAS, Their contribution to the well-being and welfare of
this Commonwealth is immeasurable and unflinching; therefore be
it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate March
2015 as "Irish American Heritage Month" in Pennsylvania and
extend its felicitations and best wishes to the Irish community
in this Commonwealth on this momentous occasion; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be forwarded to the
Taoiseach, Edna Kenny T.D., Department of Taoiseach, Government
Buildings, Upper Merrion Street, Dublin 2, Ireland, and to
Christopher J. Phillips, St. Patrick's Day Observance
Association, P.O. Box 40744, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19107.
